Love and Understanding of Art

„A visit to a museum is a search for beauty, truth and meaning in our lives. Go to museums as often as you can.” – Maira Kalman

To be honest, I have never been a fan of art and museums. When I used to be half my age, we had some “art” school trips. I was physically present, spiritually not. The art didn’t get the attention from me, which it deserved. It didn’t interest me at all.

I am 22 now. Things I hated back then, today play a major role in my life. My very first voluntary and spontaneous museum visit have been accomplished this month. Can be considered as the “8th wonder of the world.”

Till this day, I do not understand the true meaning of art.

Art is everything. It gives you a liberating feeling. With art, you can express yourself in so many ways.

“Everyone wants to understand art. Why not try to understand the song of a bird? Why does one love the night, flowers, everything around one, without trying to understand them? But in the case of a painting people have to understand. If only they would realize above all that an artist works of necessity, that he himself is only a trifling bit of the world, and that no more importance should be attached to him than to plenty of other things which please us in the world, though we can’t explain them. People who try to explain pictures are usually barking up the wrong tree.” – Pablo Picasso

The world has become fragile. Only the moment is reliable. Terrible things happen in our world, and that affects everyone. The art must be a retreat for happiness.

We need to focus more than ever on the positive!
